The Eustace Diamonds by Anthony Trollope Following the death of her husband Sir Florian, beautiful Lizzie Eustace mysteriously comes into possession of a hugely expensive diamond necklace. She maintains it was a gift from her husband, but the Eustace lawyers insist she give it up, and while her cousin Frank takes her side, her new lover Lord Fawn states that he will only marry her if the necklace is surrendered. As gossip and scandal intensify, Lizzie's truthfulness is thrown into doubt, and, in her desire to keep the jewels, she is driven to increasingly desperate acts. The third in Trollope's Palliser series, The Eustace Diamonds bears all the hallmarks of his later works, blending dark cynicism with humour and a keen perception of human nature. We are delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive Classic Library collection. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. The Eustace Diamonds is the third volume in the Palliser series of novels by Trollope. It tells the story of the lives of mostly upper class society in Victorion England. In a very entertaining fashion these series of books describe a world where England and it's empire ruled most of the world- and this world revolved around and for the benifit of the British upper class. I recommend this book not just to enjoy a very, very good book-but I recommend the reader compare the people described in this book with the people in our time and place. The time and place have changed, but have the people changed?
