Excellent read for norse magic neophytes & tyros
For those of you who an interest in many aspects of Anglo-Saxon / Viking practices of
magic, shamanism, runes, runic lore, and other such sundry topics; I heartily recommend this book to you.
It is very well written, an easy read, and a quality beginners manual to start your journeys with. The book covers the various worlds of the Norse belief systems as regards magic, spells, incantations and a very good way to see and learn about the birth of our English language as we know it today.
There are various poems, and other such writings that are first written in Old English, Old Norse etc. Right next to the original written language are translations into an accurately as possible renditions in English. When comparing the two languages side by side, you can easily see what words that were used in ancient times, are still in use in the 21st Century.
There are plenty of footnotes and a hefty bibliography at the end of the book. My hat is off to the author, and I hope to see more tomes having to deal with the subject matter contained in the volume I am recommending to you all.
