Seller's Description:
Good+ (Ex-Library, indicated only by a faint stamp on ffep; otherwise, clean and bright. ) Black cloth with blind stamped titling. Grey illustrated dust jacket. 160 pp. Profuse illustrations in duotone and color. A fully illustrated volume accompanying an exhibition includes a conversation with Jasper Johns and Terry Winters. The exhibition featured nine sculptures completed over the past five years, which represent the largest body of work Johns has completed in his more than 50 year career. The subject of the sculptures, with one exception, is Johns' classic grid of the numerals 0 through 9. The exhibition also features a room of twenty recent works on paper, including a series of drawings and prints based on three small works Johns made early last year on Shrinky Dinks, a plastic made for children to draw on that shrinks when heated. The exhibition ran from May 7 through July 1, 2011. (from the gallery's website).

The sculptures, cast in bronze, aluminum and silver from wax originals, feature Johns' signature number grid and the impressions of various objects and textures, such as choreographer Merce Cunningham's foot. The recent works on paper include a series of drawings and prints based on three small works Johns made early in 2010 on Shrinky Dinks (a plastic made for children to draw on, which shrinks when heated). Color plates are accompanied by a conversation between Johns and fellow artist Terry Winters, which takes Johns' newest works as the starting point for a broader discussion of his artistic practice.
