I was so excited when this book arrived with 5 others that I couldn't wait to read them. Once I picked up this first book I have had trouble wanting to put it down. The only thing that has stopped me from reading it in one night is that pesky thing called sleep and work forces me to stop reading after lunch.

The Start of an amazing tale!
This is an excellent book the first in this series; this is where you really get to know the characters. Winterheart, Amberdrake, Skandranon, Aubri, Judith, Zhaneel and most of all Uthro are the main characters. These are the people that you will become when you read this book you find yourself so caught up in this book that you are yelling and rooting for Uthro and Skan. Skandranon takes you into the skies on his secret missions against Maar and his forces. I love the world that this book makes and the people in it. The war of wars is happening and you have to watch as one of the greatest mages of all time is slowly but surely being defeated by the mage Maar and his forces. To help fight this terrible battle Uthro created many creatures to help aid him in his attempt to save the world. His best creation has been the Gryphons more than that they were Uthro?s children. His favorite child is the daring but dazzling gryphon Skandranon he is the greatest sky dancer ever created. With gryphons being a new race though everything must evolve and becomes something else as poor Zhaneel finds out almost too late luckily Amberdrake was there to see her through and many others. I highly recommend this book I never liked fantasy books until I began to read this series out of boredom now I own this set and am on my way to owning the rest.
