Love this Book
I was looking for a different book and happened upon this one. I remembered it from when I was little and had to get it. My boys love it now too.

Classic Favorite
A fun race-against-time tale, accompanied by charming "old school" illustrations. A must-have for any child who loves 1930's trucks and the construction scene. The end papers are a delight in themselves.

Cute
Giving a steam shovel a name and a face makes readers think of her as a person. Children might be upset when Mary Anne becomes trapped in the basement they had just dug. Mary Anne being transformed into a furnace was a clever idea. This is a cute and entertaining book for children. Though I don't know if many children know what a steam shovel is.
