I found the book quite well written and full of illustrations which give the reader the opportunity to get familiar with plant propagation. I was expecting a more scientific manuscript though, and I was a bit frustrated when I saw that the book addressed to home gardeners, students and nurserymen. I would reccomend this book to the a/m people but not to somenone seeking more scientific information on the bais of plant propagation. I would say that the title does not fully describe the content of the book.

Essential propagation reference
A detailed and thorough guide to plant propagation, suitable for the impassioned amateur. Chapters review techniques of seed starting, layering, propagation from leaf, hardwood and softwood cuttings, etc, in detail. Comprehensive and well organized listings of species, with brief discussion of suitable methods of propagation for each.. No index of common names, some bias towards British ranges of hardiness, but overall one of the most useful books you could own if you long to increase your plant collection. This book took me from being a constant haunter of nurseries to someone who gives away hundreds of plants a year, actually has too many of quite a few lovely things (like Clivias), and only haunts the nurseries intermittently - - too busy taking care of all the baby plants to go every weekend!
