"You're going to love The Brontļæ½ Plot ." --Debbie Macomber When Lucy's secret is unearthed, her world begins to crumble. But it may be the best thing that has ever happened to her. Lucy Alling makes a living selling rare books, often taking suspicious liberties to reach her goals. When her unorthodox methods are discovered, Lucy's secret ruins her relationship with her boss and her boyfriend, James--leaving Lucy in a heap of hurt and trouble. Something has to change; she has to change. In a sudden turn of events, James's wealthy grandmother, Helen, hires Lucy as a consultant for a London literary and antiques excursion. Lucy reluctantly agrees and soon discovers Helen holds secrets of her own. In fact, Helen understands Lucy's predicament better than anyone else. As the two travel across England, Lucy benefits from Helen's wisdom as Helen confronts ghosts from her own past. Everything comes to a head at Haworth, home of the Brontļæ½ sisters, where Lucy is reminded of the sisters' beloved heroines who, with tenacity and resolution, endured--even in the midst of impossible circumstances. Now Lucy must face her past in order to move forward. And while it may hold mistakes and regrets, she will prevail--if only she can step into the life that's been waiting for her all along.

The Bronte Plot by Katherine Reay is a contemporary fiction novel. Lucy Alling works for Sid McKenna at McKenna Antiques and Design (he does lovely designs). Lucy works in the store (while Sid is out doing design work) and is completely responsible for acquiring and selling the books. Lucy loves books and their stories. Unfortunately, she has taken a few liberties with the books she has acquired for the store and then sold.
James Carmichael comes into the store looking for a gift for his grandmother. Lucy is instantly attracted to James. She sells him a lovely book for his grandmother, Helen Carmichael. James and Lucy start dating and fall in love. But then James discovers what Lucy did with the books. James sees things in black and white. James breaks up with Lucy.
James' grandmother, Helen had an odd reaction when she first met Lucy. It turns out that Helen knew Lucy's grandfather. Helen and Lucy go on a journey to England. Helen needs to make right a wrong from her past. Will Lucy be able to understand that what she did was wrong? Is there a future for Lucy and James?
I did enjoy some parts of The Bronte Plot. The things I enjoyed the most was the history of the writers in England and the description of the gorgeous 1950's Danish silver that Helen Carmichael purchased. I cannot believe what Lucy did to the books (and that she thought it was okay to do it). To me The Bronte Plot was just another romance book (with a life lesson thrown in). I give The Bronte Plot 2.75 out of 5 stars.
I received a complimentary copy of The Bronte Plot from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
