She was also active in the Women's suffrage movement and the Temperance movement. Born in Philadelphia, Smith was from a long line of prominent and influential Quakers in New Jersey. Hannah Tatum Whitall was the daughter of John Mickle Whitall and Mary Tatum Whitall. Her most famous ancestor was Ann Cooper Whitall. Hannah Whitall Smith's book The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life (1875) is an extremely popular book of Christian mysticism and practical Holiness theology. It is still widely read today. She wrote her spiritual autobiography, The Unselfishness of God And How I Discovered It, in 1903. Many publications of that book omit the three chapters which explain how she became a Christian universalist. (wikipedia.org)

I have had this book on my shelf for many years before I actually read it. When I did, I wished I had read it much earlier! For it taught me how I could truly trust Father God with my whole life and my children's lives also. I am not in control but He is.
I believe all new believers and those who are full of doubts, and tormented with worry this book will bring understanding of the logic of trust. I prayed for guidance to the right book and for me it was excellent. I prayed and asked God to reveal the rest that is intended for His children. I have been at peace even when I walk through many scary places.

A classic
This is a wonderful book. Everyone should have a copy. I have given several for gifts. If you are struggling in your Christian life, this book is greatly encouraging. If I could only have only a few book on my home, this would be one of them. It is a Classic!

Don't bother
A thin, quick to read book that has no substance worth reading. This author if she had read the Bible at all had forgotten it. Her faith was all the "magic word" variety.

Wow! What an awesome book
I absolutely love this book. I read it once and now am reading again but much slower so that I can ponder all the rich nuggets of wisdom contained therewith. This author is evidently blessed with a faith you don't see to often in this world. Don't hesitate to read it, it can only enrich your life.
