This first of 6 books is so good that I have bought a second copy to reread and have sent it to my niece who is a high school teacher.
Fascinating and foreshadowing, ADVISE AND CONSENT tells the behind the scenes story of a Congressional attempt to advise and consent to the nomination by the President of a new Secretary of State. I am now reading the 2nd book in the series, A SHADE OF DIFFERENCE with plot centering around some of the same characters' involvement with the United Nations. This book I am also reading a second time.
