Although it doesn't probe the deeper psychological issues of being a child among twelve siblings, this story of the Gilbreth family is a fascinating and funny read.

Influenced my life!
My 6th grade teacher read this book (and Belles on Their Toes) to our class one year. I fell in love with the family (as did many other students). I still remember the ideas Mr. Gilbreth had to make his family more efficient. I have to admit that because of this book, and the lovable characters, I find myself constantly trying to streamline things in my own life. I love this book! A few years ago I purchased the hardback editions to add to my library. They were not cheap, so I am happy to see paperbacks available as such an affordable price. These make excellent gifts. This book is heartwarming and loving. Full of humor and life.

Moving!
Cheaper By the Dozen is a moving story documenting the lives of the LARGE Gilbreth family. In it a father and mother ingeniously raise eleven children. I thought it was well-written and is a good example of what every family goes through. It teaches us that in spite of difficulty it is important to stick together. I believe that it is a wonderful story that should be read in every household.
