For yrs I said I was addicted to sugar and some junk foods. Kessler cites the studies proving it and documents as an insider how hard
the food industry works to make us addicts to blends of fats, sugar, salt and artificial flavoring (chemicals). 60 Minutes did a show.

What Food Addiction Is All About
Dr. Kessler has the gift of expressing something that is near and dear to my heart. I am absolutely certain that I am addicted to refined carbohydrates and that I cannot practice moderation when it comes to sugar and flour. I am thankful that I have a 12-step program where I can learn from and share with other people whose addiction is as critical as mine.
I'm 71 years young and have been fighting food addiction for most of my adult life. I have tried to eat like "normal" people, but to no avail. Once I have had my first bite of an addictive substance it sets off a chain of continuous binge eating. I rarely eat because I am hungry...I more often than not eat over whatever is eating me. It can be sad or it can be glad...it doesn't matter.
I am currently close to my goal weight with an overall loss of 86 pounds at this writing. I know that I am only one bite away from a living "hell." This book can save lives and I am grateful to the author for his insight and experience.
