This book grabbed my attention from the first line. It uplifted and encouraged me in my faith while reading it. Reading about life in the West makes you realize Salon girls or houses where girls entertained men were even around back then. Sometimes we women go looking in the wrong place to find our solutions to finding a husband or getting his attention. I laughed through parts of the book. There is intrigue, mystery and yes, even a murder. You read about slaves longing to be free and those who are free struggling to be received. I found this book a great delight and I already have someone planned to pass it on to.
