At once entertaining and profound. The voice of the narrator is terrific. I sent this to a German friend b/c I thought the style would be easy to follow, the plot gripping, the characters compelling, and the impression lasting. I copied out several passages to remember for myself. Has some good things to say about literature, the movies, and life.

Be Gone Foul Spirit
A lost Shakespearian manuscript. Rare book dealers. Russian mobsters. Though the premise seemed fresh and intriguing, the execution of the plot was torturous, the main character completely unsympathetic, the story-telling unnecessarily convoluted and the pace stupefying. Normally a quick reader, this novel took me more than a month to wade through.
