?What on earth should we do now?? is a burning question on the heart of many Christians in America today. Dr. David Jeremiah is a pastor with a heart for his people and the people of God and answers this question with ten practical qualities of the Christian life in his new book, Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World. In his new book, he speaks to our responses to current world events and answers the questions, ?What on earth should we do now? How are we to respond to the world events we see unfolding? What should be the pattern of our life in Christ considering these events?? Based on his sermon series, Dr. Jeremiah speaks to his church, but to the larger church universal, those who are burdened and heavy and confused and concerned.
The book is well-spaced and attractive in design. Dr. Jeremiah?s flow of writing is natural with a heart that is truly concerned for the state of God?s people today. His writing is simple and practical, full of personal illustrations from his years of experience. His well-documented references and illustrations range from current events and pop culture movies and sports to classic works by A. W. Tozer and C. S. Lewis. This is not a deep theological study, and Dr. Jeremiah does honestly and fairly exegete the Scriptures he has chosen, with a focus on application. Dr. Jeremiah has chosen to topically address the issues, and he links it all together with an appropriate theme that is easy to read and understand and will keep the reader?s attention.
This is an interesting book with a heavy emphasis on current events and the ?state of the world.? How we respond to current events, or how we live the Christian life in the church between Jesus? ascension and return, has definite applications and implications. There is peace and comfort in the Gospel, being His sons and daughters, part of His kingdom, being indwelt with the Holy Spirit, and Dr. Jeremiah brings these elements to the forefront in his book. Each of the ten qualities is focused on the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, and their work and our responses in our lives. This is a book that can be recommended to many Christians today, as well as non-believers. Dr. Jeremiah makes several ?gospel calls? throughout his work, revealing his heart not only for the church, but for the world as a whole.
