Joseph is afraid he may know, and his sister, Judith, who is General Cullingford's driver and translator, harbors her own fearful suspicions. This is one of the 5?/6 elements of Perry's WWI series. She really does a nice job of tieing them all togehter with a family and overf arching plot line. Not great literature but she definitely is one of the best of this genre of mystery/suspense.
