Dr. Joel R. Hillison is a faculty instructor in the Department of Distance Education at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He is also an adjunct professor at Gettysburg College. He joined the U.S. Army War College faculty in 2007 and his last operational assignment was as the Comptroller and Deputy Comptroller for the Multinational Forces Iraq in 2004-05. From 1997 to 2000, he spent 3 years as the budget officer for the Combined Joint Planning Staff at SHAPE Headquarters in Mons, Belgium. Dr. Hillison received his Ph.D. in international relations from Temple University and holds an M.A. in economics from the University of Oklahoma and an M.A. in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College. He retired in 2013 as a Colonel after 30 years in the U.S. Army."
