Adam Cooper is a 15 year old boy on the cusp of manhood on the evening on evening of April 18th, 1775. By the evening of April 19th, 1775, he is a man uncertain of the future but with a clear understanding of the tasks ahead of him.
It all seemed so simple on April 18th. He, his father and the militia of the village of Lexington, Massachusetts discussed what they'd do when the British army marched to Concord, Massachusetts to seize the powder stored there. They'd stand on the village green, tell the British how they'd felt and the British would listen. On the morning of April 19th, 1775, they were ordered off the green by a haughty British officer, a shot rings out and Adam's father, Moses, dies in front of his eyes. The American Revolutionary War has begun.
Told simply in the words of a 15 year old, April Morning is stirring description of a boy's abrupt journey from childhood and vivid description of the events of that day. Characters are clearly deliniated and believable. Highly recommended for anyone but especially for teens.
