One can't help but fall in love with this book. Read it when you need a good cry and amuse yourself over the splendid characters, Heyer portrayes to well in her books.

Hero, is a young orphan adopted by a cantankerous old man who is rich, but cannot bear to spend any money on anyone but himself. She has led a very secluded life in Yorkshire and her guardian offers to leave his fortune to her if she marries one of his nephews. Two eligible nephews turn up and propose (one reluctantly) and the fun begins. Third nephew Freddy a Marquis comes and is talked into a pretend engagement, takes her to his family in London, she has a great time. Plenty of humour, adventure, and romance before the happy ending. Lovely story. Georgette Heyer is the greatest for historical romance.

Excellent Quality HB w/ DJ
I was extremely pleased with the quality of this out of print, hard bound early edition with intact dust jacket. This is a difficult to find Heyer title in any style, so I was surprised to find such a good quality HB copy at Alibris. While certainly not one of Heyer's best works, it is a delightful read. Alibris made the search, purchase and delivery very easy. Also, thank you Alibris for adding a plastic protective cover. I will never go back to ebay!
