En los �ltimos a�os se han ido desarrollando nuevas formas de control de glucemia con el objetivo de garantizar una mejor calidad de vida a las personas que padecen diabetes mellitus tipo 1. Con el fin de favorecer la independencia, calidad de vida, y un mayor control de la enfermedad, hemos dise�ado un taller de autocuidados que consta de diferentes sesiones de acuerdo con los aspectos que afectan a la insulina como alimentaci�n o ejercicio, y al ajuste de insulina. M�s concretamente, la sesi�n que se ha desarrollado trata el control de glucemia mediante el uso del sistema de monitorizaci�n Flash FreeStyle(R) Libre. Este m�todo ser� aplicado a j�venes de una edad comprendida entre los 18 y los 29 a�os que hayan sido diagnosticados de diabetes mellitus tipo 1 con una antig�edad de al menos 5 meses, no obesos, y que no consiguen tener un control adecuado de la enfermedad. -------------------------------------------------------- Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by insulin deficiency (can also be resistance in type 2), and affects from childhood to adulthood. It affects the organism causing hyperglycemia and chance of suffering peripheral and vascular complications. In recent years new ways to control blood glucose have been developed in order to ensure a better quality of life for people suffering from diabetes mellitus type 1. In order to promote the independence, quality of life, and greater control of this disease we designed a self-care workshop which consists of different sessions according to aspects affecting insulin such as food or exercise, or insulin adjustment. More specifically, the session that has been developed deals with glucose monitoring system using the Flash monitoring device FreeStyle(R) Libre. This method will be applied to young people aged between 18 and 29 years who have been diagnosed of diabetes mellitus type 1 with at least 5 months of antiquity, not obese and who fail to have proper control of the disease.
