Dazzled by the brilliant crowd, opulence and elegance of the residence, Eug�ne fixed his eyes on the Countess Anastasie of Restaud, and quickly establish relations with that woman becoming known as a cousin of Mrs. Beaus�ant, being invited by the countess to his home. Eug�ne felt ambitious enough to charm the woman and imagined a series of future enjoyments would happen to her.
