In 2015, along with many other business leaders, I founded The Scotland Summit. It was a great event that captured and shared ideas through strategic talks with the audience. My presentation titled, Can We Fly, explored the entrepreneurial lifestyle and with dedication we can push onward to innovation. Due to the great response from the presentation and those in attendance, I decided to write a book to dive further into the topic. Are you an entrepreneur, business leader, or someone to improve their own development? If so this short book, packed with incites, will teach you how to grow through your own failures with perseverance and the entrepreneurial spirit. This book will take you through some of my personal experiences and the secret to overcoming negativity. Through the journey in this book, we look at the Wright Brothers early on, establishing the tone for the rest of the story. We then dive into a more modern story of overcoming obstacles. We discuss the importance of passionate people, surrounding ourselves with them, and becoming one yourself. This book establishes methods to enhance perseverance in business by helping the reader understand how to overcome negativity, the methods to improving everything, how to get past the cants, and embracing risk. We look at our society in this book as well and relate human knowledge to Ray Kurzweil's Theory of Accelerating Returns and determine that if we properly pass information, experiences, and discoveries down to the next generation, humans to can see exponential growth in knowledge and innovation. One of my favorite quotes from Steve Job's is in the early chapters and it really sets the tone for the way the entrepreneurs see the world. Defining what an entrepreneur is can be hard, but these words resonated with me. "Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... The ones who see things differently - they're not fond of the rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the one thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Steve Jobs
