Thank you for checking out this children's classic by Guga Books. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you soon. The Law of the Jungle, which never orders anything without a reason, forbids every beast to eat Man except when he is killing to show his children how to kill, and then he must hunt outside the hunting-grounds of his pack or tribe. The real reason for this is that man-killing means, sooner or later, the arrival of white men on elephants, with guns, and hundreds of brown men with gongs and rockets and torches. Then everybody in the jungle suffers. The reason the beasts give among themselves is that Man is the weakest and most defenseless of all living things, and it is unsportsmanlike to touch him. They say too -- and it is true -- that man-eaters become mangy, and lose their teeth.

This book is not good
I bought this book for my child around 2 months ago and when it arrived it had missing pages and a scratched cover. I do not recommend this.

Great Stories, Characters, and Poems
Written in 1894 and 1895 The Jungle Book is a collection of stories featuring some of the most famous characters in literature. Most of these stories are about Mowgli and his relationship with the animals of the Indian jungle. Raised by wolves since an infant, Mowgli grows to be part of the wolf pack and is viewed by the other wolves as such. Mowgli gets along with most of the animals in the jungle; Bagheera the panther and Baloo the bear are the main protectors and mentors to Mowgli; however, Shere Khan is the ever present antagonist in this collection of stories. One theme in the book is the struggle Mowgli has with being both a wolf (of sorts) and a human. The subject of this review is the Educator Classic Library version of The Jungle Book; this version contains explanatory notes in the margins, illustrations, and background knowledge on Rudyard Kipling. The quotes, poems, and ballads at the beginning and/or end of each story make this one of most enjoyable books I have ever read. In sum, The Jungle Book contains great stories, memorable characters, and delightful poetry.
