Which doesn't make the book bad, I suppose. The catastrophe is a plague rather than nuclear war. Her book about when society has reconstituted itself, "Bannerless," is not at all bad, and won the Philip K. Dick prize. The book bears no similarity at all to Dick's books, but I suppose they don't give the award on that basis.
