This handy English-language field guide, with its many clear photographs and succinct but informative text, is a real boon to any nature-lover planning to visit or live in Japan. My only quibble with this book is that its range maps are so small that it's hard to make out the colors on some of them, but this is a minor point and in no way detracts from this book's beauty and usefulness.
