Seller's Description:
Fine in fine jacket. First edition/prinitng. Fine (rem. mark bottom edge) in fine dust jacket. 223 pp. with index. Illustrations. Autobiography of Ralph Branca, most famously a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers, whose baseball life was defined by giving up the "Shot Heard Round The World" home run to the Giants Bobby Thomson in the deciding third game of the 1951 National League playoff series. He also recounts his teenage tryouts, his impressions of his first manager Leo Durocher, his days with the "Boys of Summer" Dodgers like Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Roy Campanella, and Duke Snider. He goes on to tell how he dealt with the aftermath of the crushing homer, his later career and how he eventually came to embrace the moment and became fast friends with Thomson.
