Inconsistent
The trailers for the TV series of the same name were intriguing. However, a major disapointment with the resolution of the cult series 'The Prisoner' back in the Sixties made me cautious. After watching one episode of Flashforward, I saw that it was based on a book, so I decided to find out what we were in for.
The credits should have said 'loosely based upon'. However, having recently attended a conference at CERN, outside Geneva, the early pages had me hooked, and the disapointment came later.
The characters were poorly developed, as was the abiding question of whether the apparent visions of the future, were inevitable. The author should have given himself more pages in which to develop his ideas.
Having seen a couple more episodes, it seems that the writers of the TV series have the benefit of hindsight, and are attempting to bring out the full richness of the premiss in the book. This is something that the author sadly failed to do.
