The masterpiece that started Terry Goodkind's New York Times bestselling epic Sword of Truth In the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father, a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher's forest sanctuary seeking help . . . and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence. In a dark age it takes courage to live, and more than mere courage to challenge those who hold dominion, Richard and Kahlan must take up that challenge or become the next victims. Beyond awaits a bewitching land where even the best of their hearts could betray them. Yet, Richard fears nothing so much as what secrets his sword might reveal about his own soul. Falling in love would destroy them--for reasons Richard can't imagine and Kahlan dare not say. In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachery and loss, Kahlan calls upon Richard to reach beyond his sword--to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that the rules of battle have just changed . . . or that their time has run out. Wizard's First Rule is the beginning. One book. One Rule. Witness the birth of a legend.

Awesome Book
This book was recomended to me by my fiance and we bought the CD so we could sit and listen to it together. He had listened to it years ago, and couldn't stop talking about it. In fact, he talked about it sooo much, that I decided to buy it and listen for myself. It was well worth the buy. I cant wait to get the rest of the set!

READ IT!!!
This was by far one of my favorite books ever. My father tried to get me to read this book for years and I put it off until last summer. I read it nearly from cover to cover. I couldnt stop myself from reading. I literally would wake up, read it, take a nap and read it when I awoke.
The story is so engrossing and you can just feel what the characters are going through. This is a must read!

Absolutely worth the money
The book started off with actions right away. It's a change from many books that builds up slowly. This sucks you into the story right away. Before you know it, events start to unfold fast. I love the details of the main characters. Each of their emotions are carefully layed out for the readers to savor, to experience and immerse into each character, bad or good ones. I find myself constantly going back to previous pages to find clues relating to the events I was reading about. So I can totally understand it. Definitely a must read, besides The LOTR.

A great book! rich complicated characters that stay with you long after you've read the book. I consider this the best book out of his sword of truth books. Once again, great fantasy, great charcter development, a must read!
