Danger awaits at every turn!
I have been following this series since the first book, The Pelican Bride, and am continually amazed at all of the little known history that finds its way into each of the Gulf Coast Chronicles. With each book I learn something new, Beth White is adept at weaving historical fact into her stories.
The Magnolia Duchess was a fascinating look into one of America's lesser written about wars, the War of 1812. I was delighted to read about another generation in the Lanier family and I quickly came to like Fiona. She was such a mix of tough naivety, and neither the reader nor Charlie quite knows what to expect from her next.
The Magnolia Duchess was an enjoyable read, from the pretty cover to the last word of the author's note. Beth White is a talented author, not only could I just about feel the heat and smell the surf, but I felt like I was right there experiencing everything along with the characters.
History, adventure, intrigue, and romance make Beth White's latest installment in the Gulf Coast Chronicles, The Magnolia Duchess, a book well worth reading.
(I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are entirely my own.)
