Richard Kilmer is everyman; just as common bloke who happens to be a writer. He?s met the woman of his dreams (no pun intended), Jennifer Ryan. During the Christmas holidays, they go to see her parents and Richard asks Jennifer to marry him. She accepts. On a lark, they decide to go to see Kendrick Falls. Suddenly, a storm churns up and they are in an accident.
Richard cannot find Jennifer. He goes through all the motions (looking for her, telling her parents, police reports, etc.) and still no Jennifer. Richard goes home and talks about Jennifer ? everything in his life has changed. Nothing of Jennifer?s is left in their apartment, his friends don?t know what he?s talking about when he mentions Jennifer, nothing seems right.
Then, Richard uses his journalistic talent to tell his story in a national magazine. He finds that he no longer controls his world. Thus begins a thriller that races along at break-neck speed.
David Rosenfelt always delivers! I find myself hooked into his stories by page 2. The first time I read this, I was agog with the story. Rereading it (and after seeing this plot used by another writer), I?m not quite as impressed. However, it is a good, fast-paced story.
