This was the first time I had read Beverly Lewis, and I enjoyed the story very much. There seemed to be so much going on with various characters that my interest was completely taken. I didn't see the point of Rose's mother being in the story, as she added absolutely nothing, IMO, but perhaps the author included her for the sake of Rose's brother-in-law, Brandon. After his accident perhaps he needed someone like her to help him gain a new perspective.
