Palahniuk has a great talent for creating unpredictable plots and fascinating characters. In Lullaby, Palahniuk tells us about a reporter hired to investigate crib deaths, who eventually discovers their unlikely cause - a poem called 'The Culling Song.' Along the way he teams up with a real estate agent (who specializes in selling haunted houses) on a desperate cross-country journey to eliminate every last copy of the deadly book. Palahniuk also has a talent for describing the familiar from a different angle/perspective (eg: the narrator speaks of hearing dead people laughing from the other room. I will not reveal what this means in case you're planning to read the book). If you're looking for the unexpected, Lullaby is a great read.

Fantastic
One of Chuck's best. A creative plot as always, matched with disturbing character studies. Favorite part of the book: his magical realism that becomes believable. Not nearly as gory or visceral as his others, a great read for any first-timer, or ardent fan.
