This body of short stories is so powerful. The people portrayed by this writer are in transition because of life's circumstances, and these first hand stories explain how these circumstances arose. The images are haunting. Barry Lopez has outdone himself with this fine piece of writing. I didn't want it to end, and I've reread some of it, which is a rarity for me. It's a gripping book. I'd recommend this book highly.
