Excerpt from Survey of the Rancho Santiago De Santa Ana: Brief of Montgomery Blair for Bolsas Claimants The undersigned, as counsel for the owners of said Bol sas Rancho, objected to these proceedings as confessedly unauthorized and improper, and on the ground that it was a renewal of the contest which these same persons had made as settlers and as representatives of the settlers upon the land in question against the Bolsas survey, and which had been decided against them once by the Commissioner, three several times by the Secretary of the Interior, and then by the Attorney General, and that as Santiago claimants they were barred from contesting the survey by having accepted it, and subdivided their lands under it, and by failing to except to it within 90 days after publication made as required by the act of 1864.
