Excerpt from Genealogy of the Family of Winchell in America: Embracing the Etymology and History of the Name and the Outlines of Some Collateral Genealogies This has been a labor Of love - more a labor than an amusement. The writer's instincts have drawn him into it. When six years of age he used to amuse himself by writing on his slate the names of all his relatives. He has now a genealogical tree, with brief biographies ap pended, which he drew up in 1843. Since that time his acquaintance with the family has been extending.' In 1857 be procured a record book and commenced the systematic registration of facts according to a plan to which he has adhered. In July, 1867, the Opportunity Offering itself, he entered upon an examination of original documents at Windsor and was so much gratified by his discoveries that he determined to complete the research and publish the results. The writer proposes to continue his labors. He will feel obliged, therefore, for any suggestions or additional information. Every person interested is requested to keep the writer posted in the progress of events connected with his own history and that of his relatives.
