Chatty but not comprehensive
Football for Dummies has a nice conversational style and will familiarize you with many of the great players of the past (especially Howie Long), but it lacks depth in describing the details of football's rules. Sure, you get excruciating detail of every line on the field, but I challenge you to tell me who on defense may call a timeout. As this edition is 12 years old, maybe the lack of specificity is moot. You'll still know the basic rules, strategies and famous players (especially Howie Long) after reading this. I like The Complete Idiot's Guide to Football better.

A great source of info about rules and strategies of football. Will educate the TV watching football fan. Get a copy for the wife, but you'd better read it first!
