Living Gluten-Free For Dummies, like all For Dummies books, is divided up so you don't have to read it all at once, or even front to back, if you don't want to. You can skip from B to R to A and even reread B if you want to. You can read it sideways and standing on your head if you'd like; all you have to do is find a section you're interested in and dig in (how's that for liberating?). I suggest you peruse the Table of Contents and see whether any particular chapter or subject really floats your boat, and start there. Or you can flip through the book and see whether any of the headings catch your interest. If you're new to the gluten-free lifestyle and have tons of questions, you're probably best off starting at Chapter 1 and working your way through most of the book in order. If you've been gluten-free for years, do yourself a favor and take a look at Chapter 4. You may be surprised at some of the foods that are allowed on the gluten-free diet that used to be considered no-nos. You may find this chapter opens a lot of cupboard doors that you once thought were closed!

Insiders Info - full of humor & logical EASY tips!
I thought I understood how to avoid gluten, but it was proving to be a HUGE challenge! (menus, shopping on a budget, restaurants, tricky ingredient names on labels that really mean the same thing as Gluten)... it came down to the same thing; I was still getting sick and more frustrated, as well as wasting money buying things I couldn't eat! That's when I got this book... The Author approaches the subject with a brilliant sense of humor and a LONG history of experience with the gluten-free "life-style". She openly discusses the issues that are involved; like the expense of shopping at specialty stores, the importance of not denying yourself or your kids of, well.. anything, etc. She even talks about what the trick is to finding gluten-free food at your usual grocery store so your kids can still feel like regular kids and you can stay within a "do-able" budget. The book is VERY easy to read and is FULL of info, while set up in a way that lets you jump around to whatever section interests you. I thought I would be able to read the book and pass it on, BUT it is SO full of great information, that I will be keeping it in my reference section to refer to for quite some time. There are recipes (well, not so much recipes, as telling you how to modify your favorite recipes into NEW gluten-free recipes)!! This was an even better option for me because it meant I wasn't starting over with totally different food; rather meals that seems familiar but slightly tweeked. This book is current; in humor, in website resources, and in info. The author has gone out of her way to use medical expertise backup too. I found that the information I got from this book has been tremendously accurate. Since getting the book, I've eaten more, eaten better, actually spent less and lost weight with wacky food restriction.

Gluten free is no fun but at least this books gives you some decent recipes to work with that have some taste a variety.
