You are born, you live, you die
The Fall of Feddie the Leaf "was purchased for a four year old whose mother died of cancer recently. However, I haven't give it to her. I'm uncertain about a four year old's ability to relate Freddie's explanation of the cycle of a leaf's life to her aching heart, and her mommy's empty chair at the breakfast table. Perhaps an older child could see the parallel with Freddie's wisdom about the life cycle. It's a pleasant story, but not as helpful to children undergoing grief as I had hoped.

The Cycle of Life
The Fall of Freddie the Leaf by Leo Buscaglia is a gentle, touching allegory to help children who have suffered a loss understand the cycle of life. The book is highlighted with beautiful color photographs to enhance the text and ensure translation or understanding to the youngest of readers. A very good book to translate the subject of death with children regardless of whether the loss is a pet, community member or family relative.
