Fine in Near Fine jacket. 8vo., 239pp. Sharp First Edition with no other printings listed as called for. in English; translated by James Marcus. Square, tight and clean throughout with little or no wear. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($3.00), has some fairly minor wear to edges and tips. Flaps and rear panel toning. Still fresh and bright with no tears, chipping or creases. Quite uncommonly inscribed by Singer on the flyleaf, "To Jeff with thanks for being what he is-a real lover of literature, Issac B. Singer". "Jeff" refers to Jeff Bergman, noted long-time. and still active, ABAA bookseller who at one time owned three well-known bookstores on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. One of which, Womrath's Book Shop, a mainstay on 85th and Madison, was the inspiration for "The Shop Around the Corner, the independent bookstore featured in the 1998 film "You've Got Mail" featuring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Its Director, Nora Ephron was a regular at Bergman's store. A beautiful collectable copy and at a great price.
