The dictionary in English is from left to right, and starting at the other end, in Arabic from right to left. Maher S. Kayyali is a graduate of the Universities of Jordan and Wisconsin. He joined the Beirut-based Arab Institute for Research and Publishing (AIRP) in 1970. He became the director of AIRP and Third World Centre based in London. This work was issued during the tense period around the Persian Gulf War. Every field of human activity develops its own terms and jargon, and the military field is no exception. This timely and necessary dictionary includes fundamental military terms, contemporary political and technological terms and jargon, military technique terms for the specialist, as well as words in allied subjects such as economics, law, statistics and sociology.
