Has appendices on Bridge-to-Bridge Radiotelephone Log Requirements, Single-Letter Signals, International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea; and excerpt from Motorboat Act of 25 April 1940. Newly illustrated throughout, this book not only explains the inland and international rules in detail, but cites the new international regulations in their entirety. The author was a 1967 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. Between 1968 and 1971 he serves as a navigator in the Navy's EA-3 and EC-121 aircraft and was responsible for in-flight training and evaluation of junior pilots and navigators. Afterwards he taught navigation at the U.S. Naval Academy. He authored the chapters on the rules of the road for the 16th Edition of Knight's Modern Seamanship. After his service in the U.S. Navy, the author taught Nautical Science at the Florida Institute of Technology.
