Makes Things Easy
I'm not so presumptuous as to review the actual Bible (though I highly recommend it).
I'd just like to point out that this particular arrangement of scripture makes sticking to a Bible reading schedule very simple. If you follow the daily readings (selections from Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs each day), you'll have read through the entire Bible in a year. You'll find that this arrangement also makes for some interesting juxtapositions of the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament, reminding you that the same Person used very different methods of relating to us over time. This edition probably wouldn't be your first choice for in-depth study; there aren't any helpful footnotes or commentary. But for a first-time reader, or as a refresher course, this layout is really handy. I had a 3-year study Bible that took me 7 years to finish; on the other hand, it's now April 2007 and I'm only a day behind in my One Year Bible.
