This in an excellent book for both the beginner and expert. Many practicioners of social work research are required to evaluate the effectiveness of programmes. As such a practicioner, I write programme evaluations on a monthly basis. This book provides many practical guidelines for Programme Evaluation. I am also a tutor for final year social work students. My students need to do a mini-research paper and I have recommended that they use Royse's book as their primary source. Very readable, very concise and most helpful in the field. I recommend this inexpensive text-book to those who are both learners and practicioners.
