This book is a great source of information for anyone looking to understand the biological basis of cancer. What makes this book very well written is that its explanations are progressive, meaning that it will first introduce a topic in a chapter, in broad strokes that don't lose the reader. As the chapter continues, however, the book elaborates and provides details that make the "bigger picture" comprehensible and fascinating. One key feature of this book, is that they take the information presented to a deeper level by providing you with a real life example. The book then utilizes this example not only to focus the major points of the chapter, but also to reiterate the material that is sometimes more difficult to grasp. This book takes a very molecular approach in its explanations of all the pathways and other biological factors, however, molecular biology is in no way required for an individual to understand this text. A knowledge of genetics and molecular techniques would definitely make this book more effective, and that should be considered prior to buying the text.
