I've been giving "Anno's Counting Book" to the babies of friends and relatives for years, even though it would be a few years before the baby could really appreciate the book. When the book was no longer available in hardback I was delighted to find hardback editions in excellent condition at Alibris. Anno's illustrations are always magnificent and his layout is clever. In addition to its counting aspect, the book teaches the seasons and time. His approach to teaching counting is unique in that on each page the objects to be counted are randomly placed on the page so the child must search out what he is counting: buildings, trees, children, etc. To this day, at 77, I still enjoy finding them myself.
