I ordered this book on the recommendations of friends of mine, with whom I run a support group for girls with eating disorders. Having never been anorexic myself, I could never understand what drives an apparently happy and healthy young woman into this self-inflicted prison of secrets that nobody else can break into. In fact, that is one of the main reasons why those walls are so hard to break down - the fact that none but the person with anorexia can let those walls down tends to give one the illusion of control. Until one realises that the walls dont only keep the rest of th e world our - they keep YOU in.
I would heartily recommend this book especially for parents trying to figure out a way of getting through. Out of date it might be, but the conflicts and the clashes of will are as raw and as relevant as ever.
