Seller's Description:
Fine trade hard cover book/ no dust jacket, as issued. An examination of the struggle to desegregate the schools of Charlotte, North Carolina, from the Brown v. Board of Education ruling in 1954 to the mid-1970s. Interestingly, Charlotte responded more quickly to Brown than most Southern cities. In addition, Charlotte emerged as the focal point in the national debate on school busing. The net result was that desegregation in Charlotte was widely regarded as more successful than most efforts in other cities.
