In the land of Pendaran, lively, affectionate Shelby Parker was born to a simple life -- yet her mother Daria, and those around her cannot help but notice the graces she possesses. Among those taking note of Shelby's winsome ways and tender heart are the king and queen of the House of Markham, who are seeking a new wife for their widowed son, Prince Nikolai. Although I enjoyed this book somewhat, it is not one of my Lori Wick favorites. I felt like too much of the book was spent with the Prince and Princess' miserable, distant relationship. In other words, if you are looking for a book that makes you laugh and smile a lot, this is not it.

Creative Story
Lori Wick kept the characters real. It isn't a fairy tale princess story. I enjoyed every bit of the story and even found myself wishing for a sequel to follow up on the characters.

Nice, Clean Romance
I have enjoyed most of Lori Wick's books, but this one is one of my favorites. The author writes from the Evangelical Christian standpoint and most of her books include at least one conversion story. Personally, I do not agree with the author's theology, but I find it does not detract from the story. Quite often I skip over the Bible lessons without loosing any of the plot. This is one of the few well-written romances that are not just lacking in "bad" stuff, but show relationships based on respect for the other person for who they are, not their physical attractiveness.

Charming story
This book was a sweet love story between strangers who chose to love each other even though they were thrown into an arranged marriage. I enjoyed reading it.
