They Stood Above the Rest
Whether writing as Will Henry or Clay Fisher as this book was first published, Henry Wilson Allen is a novelist not to miss when it comes to the West. His books are realistic, historic, and just plain good old entertainment. The movie version has played just recently on television and is a wonderful movie, and I can't decide which I like best the book or the movie. Two brothers embark on a dangerous journey in order to improve their lives--as many did during this time--Would I have been so adventurous? I don't know. But hard times call for hard decisions, and this book is a testament to people with strength and fortitude. A very good "western".
