The saga focuses on Soames and his young bride Annette. There is also a marriage between Soames' black sheep cousing, Jolyan, and Soames' exwife, Irene. Soames jealousy of Jolyan makes for intense drama. Jolyan has both Irene and a new son. Soames has a change of heart. Soames falls completely in love with Fleur when seeing her. His disapointment about not having a son quickly vanishes. Soames finally has a happy moment in his life. Jolyan also seeks forgivness from June, the daughter he left behind. This is great family drama that offers a fairly happy ending for the moment. This is the second novel in a nine book series.
