In Myers's "Leviathan," the team heads to Hollywood for a taping of the new TV pilot, Live or Die, the Ultimate Reality. Frank Peretti's "The Mind Pirates" offers a rousing story featuring bizarre visions and memories of a murder, a kidnapping by 17th-century pirates, and an earring with mysterious powers. The team must overcome the ruthless scheming of an evil, hidden nemesis. In "Hybrids" from Angela Hunt, the sight of two children chills the team to their bones. Seeking rest and relaxation, the four friends must instead find answers to the arrival and mission of two mysterious black-eyed children. Seller's Description:
New in new dust jacket. New, Publisher overstock, may have small remainder mark. Excellent condition, never read, purchased from publisher as excess inventory.
The Harbingers has been quite a series so far. Each novella has been a supernatural ride into the unbelievable.
While Probing wasn't quite as creepy as the previous cycles it was certainly stranger. Just read the back cover blurb and you'll see what I mean, reality TV that may be a little too real, pirates with some secrets hidden up their billowing sleeves, children that may not be children at all, and a small town hiding something so frightening no one would ever believe it.
Supernatural suspense was a fairly new term for me. I've read several of Frank Peretti's and Bill Myers's previous books that were somewhat similar but it's only recently that I've seen that term applied as its own genre. But it's a genre that I'm starting to enjoy.
Some changes were in store for the characters in Probing and I'm curious to find out how that will affect them in the cycles to come. At any rate, if you love spooky supernatural stories with a definite Christian bent you really should check out this book, and series, from the talented pens of Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt, and Alton Gansky.
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
